Minnesota the fifth lowest state for pension spending
The National Association of State Retirement Administrators
(NASRA) recently updated its issue
brief regarding state and local government spending on public employee
retirement systems.
According to NASRA’s data, contributions to public
pensions by Minnesota’s state and local governments is only 2.25 percent of
total state and local government general spending, which is roughly half of the
US average of 4.48 percent. Minnesota ranks as the fifth lowest state for
its government spending on pensions.
