Proposed Revised Credential Fields and Minimum Qualifications

Note: Changes are in legislative format with new language underlined and strike through of old language

Applied Math - propose to merge this into the Mathematics credential field, so there is only one Mathematics field

Proposed New Credential Field:
Clinical Nursing, AD Credential Field
Proposed minimum qualifications:
Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Occupational Experience Requirement:
Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse.

Recency Requirement
    One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Current Minnesota RN license

Professional Requirement
    Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license

Nursing, AD and Nursing, Practical Credential Fields

The Joint Committee on Credential Fields discussed a number of comments related to the proposed change in the occupational experience requirement in both of these fields and the recommendation is that the occupational experience requirement remain at two years.
